What is your most vivid memory of nature?

Sunday was Earth Day, but we'd like to continue this theme for a bit. Yesterday you looked at our planet from a distance--you took the time to 'zoom out' and to imagine the Earth across vast expanses of time and space. Today, let's 'zoom in.' Think back to your most vivid, and personal, recollection of the natural world. Was it the first time you laid eyes on the Pacific? A flaming sunset on some mountain lake? An overnight trip up the highest peak in the Rockies? Or a childhood memory of being captivated by a caterpillar? Think for a minute, and let us know.
If you had to lose your vision, what would you look at today?

"Beauty is truth, truth beauty. That is all ye know on earth, and all ye need to know."
-- John Keats, Ode on a Grecian Urn
Do you think what Keats wrote is true? (Or beautiful?)
(This question, and a few others this week, were taken from or inspired by TED 2008, the themes of which were arranged around the biggest questions out there. Feel free to visit the link above to see the programs and forums that resulted!)
